Mills Pond Gallery Exhibition: "Little Black Book" (awarded Honorable Mention)

Gallery Invitation

The Mills Pond Gallery is operated by the Smithtown Township Arts Council. The Mills Pond House is a pre-Civil War home built by wealthy landowners in a Greek Revival tradition in the 1830s.

Mills Pond Gallery has four large rooms and a wide hallway for displaying work. They have classroom space upstairs and they serve the community in art-related opportunities. The works in this exhibit (pictured in gallery photos) are from the Member Artist Showcase 2022.

Adam Mitchell's featured art, "Isotherm Conscience," in the juried exhibition, "Little Black Book." (awarded Honorable Mention)

The piece in this juried exhibition is an 11×14 inch oil painting titled "Isotherm Conscience" (20 by 23 inches with frame). Isotherms are the lines on weather maps that delineate temperature. I superimposed a similar pattern as isotherms but made the isotherm pattern out of color depicting Greta Thunberg's image. Greta brings conscience to isotherms; plus the lines create motion and emotion in her depiction. I made a walnut frame for the painting from local hardwoods, and I used rough-cut wood from Live Edge Detroit which processes wood collected from tree removal services. It also comes with its own box with a PH-neutral lining. All the parts for this work were processed and constructed in my shop and studio.
